Marinara sauce
Serves 10
Tip: Host a spaghetti dinner for 10. Make a huge salad, homemade marinara and whole-wheat pasta.
Add 1 teaspoon olive oil.
Add 1 medium onion.
Stir continuously for 2 minutes.
Add 3 garlic cloves.
Stir 1 minute.
Add 1 cup red wine.
Let mixture reduce by half.
Add 5 cups no-salt-added tomato sauce.
Add 1 tablespoon dry oregano and 1 tablespoon dry basil.
Add 2 teaspoons sugar.
Add 1 teaspoon salt.
Add 1/4 teaspoon ground fennel.
Add 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper.
Let simmer on very low heat 15 to 20 minutes.
