Kansspelautoriteit bans ads of Stake during F1 races in Zandvoort

The Dutch Gambling Authority (Kansspelautoriteit) has “strongly requested” the F1 organisation and the Sauber racing team not to advertise the illegal gambling company Stake during the F1 races in Zandvoort this weekend.

“Stake does not have a permit from the Kansspelautoriteit and is therefore not allowed to offer gambling in the Netherlands.”

The Sauber Formula 1 team competes in most international races as Stake F1 Team, an international gambling provider and the team’s main sponsor.

The Gambling Authority said:

Under gambling law, it is prohibited to offer gambling without a permit, to advertise illegal gambling or to facilitate participation in it. Kansspelautoriteit considers it undesirable for illegal gambling to be advertised at a Dutch event of the size and scope of Formula 1, also because the event attracts a lot of attention from vulnerable groups such as minors and young people.
