UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira plans to make his mostly muted role in an upcoming A24 movie speak volumes.
Alex Pereira will take a brief hiatus from fighting to focus on his upcoming acting debut in an action-thriller film Onslaught, which is currently in production. He’ll reportedly play an antagonist role in the Adam Wingard-directed film.
Pereira is known as one of the most intimidating presences in sports. During his handful of fights in the UFC Octagon, he’s won multiple world titles and has cemented himself as one the biggest draws in MMA.
One of Pereira’s aspects that has made him into a UFC superstar is his stoic presence. According to Pereira, he doesn’t have to prepare for tiresome script memorization, although he’ll have one word to dial in.

Pereira teased his acting debut in a recent appearance on the Podpah podcast.
“I’m going to act, but I’d like to do something where I don’t have to speak,” Pereira admitted. “And this is going to be the movie where I don’t speak. It’s going to be like the Terminator where he only says one word at the end…
“So I’m going to do the whole movie without speaking, I’ll be there from the beginning to the end. And at the end, I’m going to say ‘Chama!’.”
After reportedly being in the running for another short-notice fight at UFC 310, Pereira is laser-focused on his first acting appearance.

Pereira defended his UFC light heavyweight title by fourth-round TKO against Khalil Rountree Jr. at UFC 307. He’s firmly in the running for ‘Fighter of the Year’ with three successful title defenses in 2024.
Pereira’s rise to UFC superstardom is unprecedented. He became the first and only UFC fighter to win the middleweight and light heavyweight titles and took just 11 bouts to achieve two-division champion status.
After dispatching Rountree, Pereira will likely face the surging Magomed Ankalaev in his next UFC title defense. Ankalaev most recently defeated Aleksandar Rakić at UFC 308.
Pereira is 9-1 in his UFC tenure. He’s earned wins over the likes of Israel Adesanya, Jamahal Hill, and Jiří Procházka inside the Octagon.
While details are still being worked out regarding Pereira’s first movie casting, he plans on playing a prominent role in Onslaught. At the same time, he plans on a nod to UFC fans by using his signature catchphrase during the film.
