Reading Time: 3 minutes

For longtime educator Dr. Ric Vandett, todays advances in technology mean nothing unless people overcome their inner obstacles and improve their engagement with one another. Such is the thought that drives his straightforward self-help book Hurdles. This year, this thought-provoking book will be available to the everyday reader via Chicagos Printers Row Lit Fest, the largest outdoor book showcase in the Midwest.

San Diego, CA – WEBWIRE – Tuesday, August 27, 2024

From serving in Vietnam to working in education, Dr. Ric Vandett is no stranger to the inner obstacles that get in the way of success. In fact, he has seen enough to say that not even the advances in todays technology have been all that helpful.

Hence, he published his own self-help book Hurdles: Surviving Difficult Times. He has recently been getting this book exhibited at a number of book fairs. This September, its slated to appear at Chicagos famous Printers Row Lit Fest (PRLF).

Hurdles aims to help readers tackle the age-old feelings of helplessness, hopelessness, and depression. Dr. Vandett even notes that theres a widening gap between advancing technology and the lack of any advancement to the way people have been interacting with each other (and themselves). Such discrepancy makes for troubled times, both as an individual and a society. By exhibiting his book at large events like the PRLF, he hopes to alleviate this mounting challenge.

The book draws heavily both from his military experience and education. He was in both the First Air Cavalry and the First Infantry Division in 1965 and 1966. Sometime after that, he worked as director of the Southwest Education Alliance in North Carolina. Hes taught high school English, coached in both basketball and football, and worked as a middle school assistant principal. Throughout all that, he has developed a means to really help troubled individuals come to terms with the real hurdles in their hearts and minds so that they discover their potential and finally pursue happiness.

Those visiting the Printers Row Lit Fest 2024 can find Hurdles: Surviving Difficult Times displayed at the self-publishing and book marketing company ReadersMagnets exhibit at booth space C and D. The outdoor book showcase will be held on September 7-8, 2024, at Printers Row Park, 620 S Dearborn St (Ida B Wells & Polk), Chicago, Illinois.

The book is available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble. To reach out to Dr. Ric Vandett, readers can visit his website at https://www.ricvandett.com/.
