Belal Muhammad makes stark prediction ahead of Leon Edwards rematch

Belal Muhammad is confident that he can get the job done at UFC 304 next month in style.

Muhammad, defeated just once in his past 15 welterweight contests in the UFC, gets a chance to raise aloft UFC gold for the first time when he takes on reigning 170-pound champion Leon Edwards next month in Manchester in what will be a rematch of their March 2021 bout deemed a no-contest after Muhammad was unable to continue following a second-round accidental eyepoke delivered by Edwards.

Since that fight, Muhammad has won a further five fights, while Edwards has gone on to dethrone former champ Kamaru Usman before defending the title against the same fighter and, late last year, against Colby Covington in a heated grudge match.

But despite Muhammad have a relatively sparse five knockout (or TKO) wins in his 27 fights, he says he is confident of handing Edwards what would be the first knockout defeat of his career when they meet in the UFC 304 main event on July 27.

“Honestly, I think I go in there and knock him out,” Muhammad said during a recent interview , as noted by BJPenn.com .  “When I look at my last stylistic matchups, I fought the best striker in the UFC in ‘Wonderboy’. I fought the best grappler in the UFC, Demian Maia. I fought great finishers in Vicente Luque; I fought Gilbert Burns on three weeks’ notice. I think all those fights added up to this one fight like I said, god’s plan.

“I think right now, I’m the best version of myself. And I think that Leon’s gonna get in there, him and his team there in Manchester, they’re gonna be surprised, they’re gonna be in a rude awakening. People will say whatever they wanna say but my last full camp I knocked out Sean Brady, Gilbert Burns fight was a three weeks’ notice fight.

“So we’re going out on my last full camp, and it was a knockout. This fight, I’m gonna knock out Leon Edwards.”
